Glorious Days Of Yore
by Teri Sharp
My lord and I visited a wondrous place,
Where we did see the familiar face
of Henry the 8th, and the King of France;
"Twas a merry place, filled with song and dance.
Knights in chainmail, with lance and shield,
Played a human chess game on the
field of the cloth of gold -
A duel to the death as in times of old.
We dined on dragon ribs, and Queen's buns,
While laughing at the jester's silly puns.
Archery and jousting we watched from aside,
The in the maze we tried to hide.
I won a game of Celestial Jeopardy;
My lord was Sheriff of Notthingham for all to see.
With Henry the 8th, I had my picture snapped,
And escaped with my head still intact!
The falconer showed us his birds of prey,
Tired peasants rode by in wagons full of hay.
My lord cut a path through the Sherwood Forest of green
So we could steal a kiss or two without being seen.
'Twas a magical day for this lady and lord,
As we re-lived the glorious days of yore.
