A Wiccan Wedding
by Teri Sharp
A place within a place, at a time out of time;
A gathering of power, love, rhythm, and rhyme.
We met, & talked, & learned - time stood still day & night;
Then we were handfasted by flickering firelight.
Circle cast; quarters called; smudge sticks to purify;
The elements responded to the shaman's commanding cry.
Surrounded by our pagan family, we pledged our love,
Clasping hands, as the Gods smiled down from above.
Amidst shouts & clapping, we ran the circle & jumped the broom;
We leapt the sacred fire - at last we were bride & groom,
The honeymoon helpers escorted us to the bridal bed,
With helpful hints on what to do there, now that we were wed.
The drummers beat an erotic tune - our passions became a lover's pyre;
Later, everyone gathered, drinking, joking, toasting marshmallows by the fire.
We merry met, merry parted, and shall merry meet again through the years;
To our pagan family we say "Thank you", For an event we'll
always remember with laughter & happy tears. |
