Transformation
by Teri Sharp
A night storm on the beach is like no other—
A gift of moisture from the sky, our Mother.
Obliterating the everyday world from view,
Everything is covered with cascading dew.
The palm trees raise their fronds up high,
Drinking in this unexpected bonus from the sky.
Tree limbs bend in the howling wind;
Thunder echoes everywhere—a ferocious din!
Lightning turns night into day,
As the water rolls and churns along the bay.
Streets become one vast swimming pool—
The heat is gone—the air is refreshingly cool.
Then a bolt of lightning connects with a pole
And total darkness descends—now I feel whole.
Wrapped in the velvet cocoon of night,
I feel safe and secure—my visions take flight. |
