An Ode To Life

by Teri Sharp

I had to learn to love myself Before I could love another; I had to learn to give others space, Lest I smother. I now accept my shortcomings And know I can depend on myself. I use my knowledge - I don't let it moulder on a subconscious shelf. I no longer feel any need to justify - I am ME - I need not explain how or why. I accept myself as I am, Which has made me more open to change. I have created a reality for myself Which has a much wider range. Good or bad, right or wrong, to live or to die - My expanded consciousness knows such absolutes no longer apply. There are no problems, only challenges to meet. Through knowledge and growth there's nothing I can't beat! The only person responsible for my life is me; I alone choose this life - this time and place in which to be. As ling as it harms none, I partake of life fully with a grin; I believe omission is the only true sin. I don't feel guilt, nor death do I fear; I choose to live in love and harmony, just as I choose to be here. I've gained power through knowledge; The law of attraction I reaped, for everything I do has an effect, If I enjoy myself, I'll live longer, to enjoy the living; To those who deserve it, I'm open, honest, and giving. I will never sacrifice my dreams To the demands of another; I'll put no one's desires above my own - No lover, child, nor mother. I have respect for the enduring Force of the universe; I use it's power for good, never for adverse. I am part of the Force, Like a ray of sunlight traveling through eternity; I will never cease to exist - I always was, am now, and always will be.
