Mother Isis
by Teri Sharp
Mother Isis, Lady of Wings,
I hear your voice when the songbird sings;
I see your shadow in the hawk's wingspan,
And your aura as it illuminates the heart of man.
Your smile is as bright as the desert sun;
You light the moonbeams when day is done.
You're the embodiment of compassion and love;
I hear your sorrow in the cry of the dove.
I seek the shelter of your welcoming arms,
I speak your name, and am free from all harm.
Your love is so deep it transcends death;
There is healing power in your every breath.
Mother Isis, may this poem take wing,
That others shall know of the magic you bring.
ISIS - her name means "seat" or "throne"; in ancient
Egypt she was regarded as the mother of all Kings.
In myth she sought her dead husband and brother, Osiris,
conceived her son Horus by him, and mourned him together
with her Sister Nepthys. Isis was regarded as the "Eye
of Ra" and was worshipped as "Great of Magic." She was
known to protect her son Horus from snakes, predators
and other dangers and thus she became known as a protector of mortal Children also. |
