A Halloween Poem
by Teri Sharp
I hereby celebrate this Feast of the Dead;
On this night of thinnest veils, let the spirits be fed.
The gates between the worlds are open wide;
I hear my ancestors footsteps, echoing by my side.
I sense their voices in the rustling of fallen leaves;
I see their spirits hovering overhead, in the eaves.
The night winds carry their message to me,
And expand my inner vision, so I can truly see.
Knowledge of the future I desire to foresee -
May the veil be lifted - as I will, so mote it be.
On this special day, at the midnight hour,
By blazing moon, I call out words of power.
May Hades open it's portals wide -
Though perilous the path, I take the first stride.
Blanketed by the black of night, I have no fear -
I carry the light within, for I am a seer,
I call out to those who have gone before:
"I stand between the worlds - Open the Door!"
