Learning To Fly
by Teri Sharp
This is the story of a real life Peter Pan,
Who met his Tinkerbell when he was a grown man.
She talked to him of magic, and childhood dreams,
A time when the world was hers, or so it seems.
But his was a childhood of love concealed,
Of anger and frustration traumatically revealed.
His innocence was lost at so young an age -
No hugs or bedtime stories - jus a mother full of rage.
And so, long before he learned to fly,
He learned about crash-landings, and that he shouldn't cry.
The magic of childhood, lost, with no hope of recapture;
He's never flew ant all - never felt the rapture.
Can he find love and laughter with his real-life Tinkerbell?
The story's not over yet, so It's too soon to tell,
But today he shared his "happy thoughts" of our wedding, and how we met -
Who knows? My Peter Pan may learn to fly yet! |
