How To Love A Dragon
by Teri Sharp
Have you ever tickled a
dragon's nose
Or brushed cobwebs off his scales?
Have you stood beneath him, seeking warmth
From the steam that flows when he exhales?
Have you ever had to shield your eyes
From his loving gaze, so bright?
Do you know how to mount a dragon?
Would you dare go with him in flight?
Have you ever scratched behind his ears
Or rubbed the bump between his eyes?
Have you ever cuddled up to a dragon at night
And slept to the sound of his rumbling sighs?
Do you know about the indentations
That are exactly the right size
For humans to get a sure, firm grip
On his neck, as he starts to arise?
Have you ever awakened at night
To the sound of his lonely cry?
Most people just think it's thunder,
And carry umbrellas as his tears fall from the sky.
If you really want to meet a dragon
You must believe in him with all your heart,
And don't forget to scratch behind his ears--
That's the place where dragon friendships start! |
