An Ode To Death

by Teri Sharp

Time is an illusion - there is a continuum of time and space. Past, present, and future exist at once, though in another place. The present is simply a point of energy where the world breaks through to become the outer world I see. After death, my soul will pass from the present to side - The gulf separating these worlds isn't very wide. My spirit existed there before I took on this human shell; And it will reside there after the death of this body as well. Death is merely the reverse of being born - The same process that happens when night becomes morn. Death is a refreshing break that allows me to rest, And prepare me for living another life, So I can give it my best. Every new body is spun from the silvery strands of creation; Life and death are both simply aspects of spiritual animation. Death is not a final thing, I need not fear it, nor hide, It's just a cobweb I must brush through to get to the other side. Death won't wash away the joy of this life, nor it's memory; All the love I've known will travel through time with me. Reincarnation is a logical sequence of being - It causes no strife; My soul looks forward to ever more complex skills from life to life. Once I've learned all I can on earth, I'll no longer return; It will take many lives to become fully ME - I have much to learn. I have all the help I need - I feel my friends from Side hovering near; I'm never alone, for they'll always be with me, So death O I do not fear. When I die, I'll simply be crossing over to the other Side - I've visited there often during life - I look forward to the final ride. This life has given me much love and joy, And taught me how to give; And in dying, I'll finally comprehend what it is to live. My pattern of being extends unbroken From the other world to this; It connects me in life and death to the Godhead - The source of all bliss. It's the source of my becoming and the root of my being; It's infinite, un-nameable, limitless, all-seeing. I must learn and experiment, And live many lives in order to grow, And discover the ultimate truth Which only I, myself can know.
