Collar Of Truth

by Teri Sharp

What I wouldn't give for a collar of truth to place around the necks of the uncouth, Protecting me from pathological liars, And those who merely mouth platitudes, While envisioning insults, fights, and feuds. What I wouldn't give for a collar of truth To shield me from liars smooth as vermouth, Whose real feelings are deadly as the hemlock And whose hearts are as hard as a rock; Who speak of caring, sharing, and love, Then desert you when push comes to shove. With a collar of truth I could see what would be - No longer could others hide their insanity, Their homicidal anger, and venomous hate - I'd know their true feelings before it was too late. Will you bare your neck to show you care? Accept the collar of truth if you dare!
